Munck Cranes A / S
Munck Cranes is a crane manufacturer based in Bergen, Norway. The company was founded in 1924 by Mr. Sverre Munck as a trading company in escalators, lifts and hoists. The Munck Company has become a pioneer in the Norwegian export industry. The very first Munck export hoist was shipped to Sweden in 1948 and the same year to England. After that, exports to many overseas markets increased rapidly.
A global player in the market
Later, in the 1950s and 1960s, subsidiaries were established in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Brazil and Belgium. Furthermore, a network of agents was established in other parts of the world. Today Munck Cranes continues to work closely with many of these companies, although management is now with local owners. Munck Cranes currently supplies their products worldwide. The Norwegian factory alone ships 750 cranes per year. Add the other Munck locations and the number increases to more than 1000 cranes.
Precursor in remote controlled cranes
Munck Cranes was the first crane manufacturer to drop cable controls on their cranes and replace them with remote control. If you wanted a cable operated crane at Munck Cranes, you had to request it separately. The removal of the cable controls was unheard of in the industry and caused a wave of criticism from competitors. In retrospect, you cannot deny that Munck Cranes was at the time a forerunner in the technical progress of crane steering due to his courageous choice
“We use Tele Radio because of the excellent service and technical support, because this is very important to our company.”
